A Prayer for the New Year

First Caff breakfast in Commons
with Jiwon, Sukjin,Kevin, and Matt

God of yesterday, today and tomorrow, snuggled in the sanctuary of
Your embrace, we safely recall the year gone by and day dream about
the landscape ahead. Two realities shape the months to come: more
change, and Your love. One we typically deny, impeding growth, the
other reminds us we have nothing to fear.

Beautiful Lord, may this be a year when, secure in You, the fragrance
of Christ is more apparent in us. May this be a year when we are
ambushed by Your grace and laugh expectantly. May this be a year
when we reveal a secret that has cramped our hearts and impeded our
growth. May this be a year when some of our confusion, viewed in
retrospect, begins to reveal signs of You. May this be a year where we
find the courage and strength to forgive even if we can't forget. May this
be a year where we are given the gift of relieving someone else's
burden, and in so doing, release a part of ours. May this be a year in
which Your vision for the world continues to overwhelm ours. May this
be a year where we take another step in living a life where You are
Lord of all and we are all of Yours.

God of yesterday, today and tomorrow, we love You. Hold our hand,
dear Christ, and wisely, lovingly lead us into the adventure of life lived
in You. Amen.
